Marketing can be expensive or cheap, depending on who you hire to help you, what you’re trying to accomplish, and how much work needs to be done. Typically, we recommend a 6-month length on most new marketing campaigns before you see results, although it could happen sooner with enough elbow grease.
We recommend sticking with any given marketing effort for at least 6 months for most new businesses. Shorter than that, you may not be sure that seasonal changes or other oddities aren’t affecting your stats.
Depending on the goal, you could be tracking site visits, new customers, blog comments/likes/shares, or any number of different things. It’s important to align whatever you’re tracking to a solid goal, identify the baseline before you start tweaking your marketing, and give yourself a timeline to track changes well.
